Overview

Butcher Carey is a steakhouse nestled in the vibrant heart of Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur. This spot serves as a haven for steak lovers seeking a straightforward and honest dining experience. Located at Plaza Damas 3, its unpretentious space emphasizes the main event: top-quality cuts of meat grilled to perfection.

The menu champions a range of premium steaks including Australian PB MB9 Ribeye, Wagyu Picanha, Japanese Wagyu, Hereford Tenderloin, and USA Fed Black Angus Ribeye. Each steak arrives charred on the outside, tender and juicy within, offering a texture and flavor that steak enthusiasts will appreciate deeply. Butcher Carey’s dedication to meat quality is evident in every bite, proving it to be more than just another steakhouse but a specialist in its craft.

Sides complement the star dishes without overwhelming them. Options like broccoli, sweet potato fries, classic French fries, and mash potato serve as familiar and satisfying partners to the bold flavors of the steaks. The Aglio Olio pasta adds a light, spiced contrast, though some diners find its seasoning a bit on the saltier end. Salad offerings remain simple and fresh, providing a crisp counterpoint amidst the robust dishes.

The dining space itself is cozy and modest, designed for those who prioritize the food over frills. The atmosphere is alive with lively music, sometimes featuring remixed club hits and electronic dance beats, which injects energy but can grow loud during busy hours. This blend of vibrant sound and close quarters draws a younger, casual crowd as well as groups of friends and families who come for generous portions and honest flavors.

Customer experiences reflect the brand's no-nonsense approach—generous servings and attentive service shine, although the bustling environment and minimal presentation may not suit those looking for a refined or quietly intimate setting. Staff are accommodating, ready to assist with seating arrangements or special requests, adding a human touch to the engaging, unpolished atmosphere.

In essence, Butcher Carey delivers a robust, meat-centric dining adventure for those who want their steak plainly stunning without distractions. It stands out as a reliable destination for hearty portions of high-quality beef, skillfully cooked, and served in a lively Kuala Lumpur neighborhood where flavor and freshness come before fanfare.

They were playing the club hits when i walked in. To be exact, it was a remix of Lana Del Rey's Cinnamon Girl. Someone here is a huge Lana fan. They played 4 of her songs while i was eating. And boy the songs were loud. The place was crowded, dim and not very big. So you can imagine how noisy it was with families and friends talking as loud as posssible over the loud music. The staff was very obliging when we asked to switch tables. We ordered 2 steaks at 300g costing RM180 each which comes with a side of salad, and added on pasta aglio olio and some onion rings. The steak was very good but one was a bit salty for my taste. Our server placed the steaks on a board and cut it for us. I like that. The aglio olio was too al dente for me and had nothing but spices. It was nice but also too salty. Salad was salad-ing as it should, can't say much there. Onion rings had too much batter for me but my sis liked it. Overall this place offers a no frills dining experience which means no garnishing or presentation to spice up the more than RM400 meal we paid for 3 ppl. Not even a hint of microgreens in my pasta. If you're okay with this plus listening to thumpy bassy music in a place while talking loudly over everyone else, come during dinner time. It's an experience alright. Just not a great one. The steaks though were very good.

Simple restaurant with limited seatings. Reservations are encouraged here. Famed for their Australian Wagyu, Argentina Devesa, US Black Angus and British Hereford. Order according to your preferred cuts and meat weight. Steaks here are beautifully charred on the outside while the inside is cooked to juicy tenderness. Whichever cuts you select they taste wonderfully moist and unforgettable! Sides are to be separately ordered, eg; salads, corn on the cob, onion rings, asparagus, fries, pastas, etc. For steak lovers, this is "Beef Nirvana"...in a delectable sense.

Steaks were so good I had completely forgotten to take photos first. Music was rather loud…someone here definitely likes EDM…the wall decor was certainly interesting…Avocado Salad could have used less vinaigrette dressing, I found it rather sour for my liking. Overall, food was delicious!

Lovely steak. Can say one of the best. Better than Victoria Station, Jakes or chilis or Tony Romas. Indeed a steak specialist. Grilled to perfection and well seasoned

You might think why there is a steak house located at this location and some more is 2nd floor... Then you don't know about this hidden gem. We ordered pure blood Australia M6 300g steak and a normal steak and damn the difference is huge. Each bite that you took from thr pure blood is just juicy and gold on its own without you needed to put on any salt or mustard. If I could eat steak everyday, I would definitely come back to this place compare to outside steak, the price definitely reasonable. The corn salad comes with huge portion, 2 thumbs up with the size but the flavour of it on the sour side because probably too much vinaigrette dressing.

One of those 'indie' no-frills steakhouses that focuses on the meat. If you like your steak with a good char, mustard and salt on the side, this is the place for you. Good selection of cuts. The sides were also of great quality. Will be back. Only downside is the ventilation. You'll be smelling kitchen fumes throughout your meal.

Although known for its value for money steaks, the steakhouse does carry Wagyu and Wagyu cross Hanwoo cuts at the higher price end. The Wagyu picanha and the lamb shoulder chops were thoroughly enjoyed for their charred flavours and tenderness, with the picanha nicely crusted. What impressed was the quality wines at moderate prices that paired well with the delicious meal. For serious steak lovers not wanting to pay the higher prices in fancy restaurants, boasting Mibrasa or Josper grills, this is the place.
